Honda Canada reports June sales

 
            TORONTO, July 2 /CNW/ - Honda Canada Inc. reported combined June sales of
13,754 units by its Honda and Acura divisions, a 17% decrease from last year.
The Honda Automobile Division reported June sales of 11,942 units, down 20%
from last year. The Acura Division reported June sales of 1,812 units, up 13%
over last year.
            "Consumer confidence seems to be improving, as each month there is a
small increase in sales compared to previous months," said Jerry Chenkin,
executive vice president, Honda Canada Inc. "Strong truck sales in June were
supported by a 55 per cent monthly increase for Honda CR-V and a 77 per cent
monthly increase for Acura MDX, both reaching record levels for the month."
 
            Now in its 40th year of operations in Canada, Honda Canada Inc. has sold
more than 3,200,000 Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks.
Nearly half of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in 2008 were made
in Canada - a higher percentage than any other vehicle manufacturer in Canada.
